Sugarbowl
Rick & I had a blast in New Orleans. The game was the highlight, of course, (Utah 31 - Alabama 17, in case you live under a rock) but the city was fun, too. The streets were full of Bama fans, but there were plenty of Utes there - we didn't feel outnumbered til we got to the stadium. In fact, while walking down Canal Street on Friday, we heard some folks from Alabama saying they had no idea so many people from Utah would be there. Ha! Come game time, though, we were a little island of red in a sea of crimson in the Superdome, but they were nowhere near as loud as the Ute crowd - their team didn't didn't give them much to cheer about! :) They cleared out pretty quick, too - so the streets were a river of red on the walk back to the hotel. We did a lot of walking through the French Quarter and ate Muffalettas and Beignets - yum, yum. Before our flight left on Saturday, we drove the length of St. Charles Avenue to see the old mansions, then crossed Lake Pontchartrain on the 23 mile long causeway - that was pretty cool - out in the middle of a HUGE lake with no sign of the shore in any direction. All in all, a fun little get away and the kids were still alive when we got home, so that was a bonus! :) The one sad twist is that Haley flew back to school on the same day we flew home - we miss you, Buggy!
